
Diabetes nonprofit Beyond Type 1 broadcasts the stereotype-smashing team of runners who will prove anybody living with diabetes can go the space despite their diagnosis
SAN MATEO, Calif., (August 24, 2023) – On November 5, diabetes nonprofit Beyond Type 1 will join greater than 550 official charity partners and philanthropists raising awareness and funds while participating on the earth’s largest marathon, the TCS Latest York City Marathon. This 12 months, the organization is expanding its 50-person team, Beyond Type Run, to incorporate people living with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, in addition to caregivers to those living with diabetes.
“Since 2017, we’ve featured almost 200 runners on our teams who’ve exemplified what it means to survive and thrive with diabetes,” said Beyond Type 1 CEO Deborah Dugan. “From novice runners to advanced, our team is made up of courageous individuals fighting for a greater future. Amongst this 12 months’s group, we’re honored to have runners participating in honor of their family members who live and have lived with diabetes, and we’re proud to offer a journey for these people to do the extraordinary. Together, we are able to proceed educating the world about all sorts of diabetes and prove anything is feasible beyond the diagnosis.”
As a component of the Beyond Type Run team, runners can be advocating to boost awareness and funds for Beyond Type 1’s portfolio of educational resources, awareness campaigns and peer-to-peer support programs for people impacted by diabetes. This advocacy is elevated through the NYRR Official Charity Partner Program, which offers opportunities for nonprofit organizations to boost funds to support their missions and services. Participating charities can offer guaranteed entry to runners who fundraise on their behalf.
Dexcom and Tandem Diabetes Care are presenting sponsors of Beyond Type Run for a fourth consecutive 12 months. The businesses have created life-changing diabetes management solutions that integrate with each other due to a decade of collaboration.
